Sherry Sloan - Owner/Photographer

I've loved photography for as long as I can remember. I received a Pentax K1000 35mm film camera for Christmas when I was 16 years old and fell in love with photography. I've had many cameras and taken thousands of photographs since then, but it was just a few years ago that a photography hobby grew into a business. After homeschooling my 3 children and working 25 years as a registered nurse, I rediscovered my first love when some dear friends allowed me to photograph their newborn baby girl, Callie.
Looking through the lens, I not only saw a beautiful baby girl, I saw the future. I saw Callie growing up. I saw seasons changing. I saw years passing. But with the click of the shutter, I stopped it. Time stood still. That moment was captured and held forever. It would never be forgotten. It would never change. That picture would never grow up.
I was hooked and Sherry Sloan Photography was born. I started with a very simple camera and a dream. Now, I have better equipment, a beautiful downtown studio, a treasure trove of props, a million ideas and even bigger dreams. My style is classic and traditional in nature, but I prefer the word "timeless."
Are you preserving your most important moments? Make sure you do. Call me if you need some help. Time marches on. Seasons change. Years pass. Take pictures...because pictures never grow up.
Emily is my youngest daughter and my right hand man. She is a lifelong dancer and worked as an assistant instructor at City Ballet for many years. Her years there provided lots of experience dealing with children and bringing out stubborn smiles. Even the most reluctant smiles are brought out by her sweet spirit and gentle voice.
She is nimble with a camera and functions as my second shooter at weddings and first assist in newborn sessions while I set up the shot. I am obviously partial, but she is a top notch assistant and can almost read my mind, usually staying one step ahead of me clearing the way for me to do my job without obstacles.
Emily is a team player and I'm so glad she's on my team.

Penney Bates - Wedding Day Shot Coordinator

Penney is a "people-person." She has never met a stranger and makes friends everywhere she goes. Her smile lights up the room and puts everyone at ease. She is an integral part of organizing the photography progress at weddings making sure we get what the bride wants, what I want, and all the basic shots. She is also a great creative and often "sees" a great shot or angle before I do. I would not want to tackle a full day of wedding shooting without her.
